The FIP SBB is valid for TILO trains as well on the Swiss rail network. TILO is a joint-venture of SBB and Trenord.

The FIP SBB is valid from the border station (Chiasso) to Lugano / Locarno / Bellinzona yet not in Italy.

So, for me I need only a ticket from Malpensa to Cantella-Giaggolo.

For my wife in necessary a ticket from Malpensa to Cantella-Giaggolo and half price ticket from Cantella-Giaggolo to Lugano if I understand well. Is possible to buy from Malpensa like this? Because we can’t get down from the train in Cantella-Giaggolo to buy the half price ticket from Cantella-Giaggolo to Lugano.

Hello again, I followed the steps and it works. But I’m not sure, if I activate ½ reduction for my wife to buy a ticket from Malpensa to Lugano using the SBB Mobile app, the system will automatically calculate the appropriate fare, combining full fare for the Italian portion and half fare for the Swiss portion? Or is necessary to buy 2 separate tickets for italian and swiss portions?

It is possible when you have the FIP’s for SBB CFF FFS and SP.

Seat reservations are not needed yet optionally possible.

Regarding this answer, I confirm I have FIP’s for SBB CFF FFS and SP.

For my wife I will buy half price ticket using using the SBB Mobile, as she has FIP half price. Considering we will change at least 3 trains for this trip (Lugano - Interlaken), my question is, do we have to take the first connection when we change the train? For example, when we change in Luzern, can we stay a few hours and take a train later? Or the ticket is not valid like this?

I’m sorry, the answers provided to @AndreB are not totally clear to me.
I have as well FIP free coupons and my wife/kid are entitled to 50% reduction with the FIP card.
We would like to take a train from Basel SBB to Milano Central.
Can I use my FIP free coupon on such international trains ? How can I make seat reservation in such a case ?
For my wife/kid : can I get the 50% discount given by the FIP discount card on such a train ?

Sure thing.

A normal fare ticket allows you to take as many intermediate stops as you wish, as long as you continue the journey in the same travel direction (no backtracking).
