You go to a station. You find your train. You get on. Then you look for a group of free seats where you can sit together.
On most trains in Switzerland you cannot even reserve seats. Very few people bother reserving. Even families with children. This is trivial mass transit, used by locals to go about their daily business. Swiss railways normally provide enough capacity that finding free seats is rarely an issue.
