Missed Connection

Hi everyone,

I want to know about tickets and missed connections on Swiss trains.

If I miss a connection with a valid ticket, can I take the next available train with the same ticket, or would I have to buy a new one?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Generally yes, you can take the next train with most ticket types, as a ticket is usually for a route or zones area, not for a specific train, and is also valid all day until 5am next morning in most cases.

Exceptions to this general rule:

Supersaver Tickets (= bound to specific services mentioned on the ticket), if the reason for missing the connection is your own negligence, an airline (delayed flight) or a private intercity bus operator such as Flixbus.
Single way zone tickets (in local fare networks) with a limited validity period (e.g. 1h), if the reason for missing the connection is your own negligence.
