Change names on tickets?

I bought 9 Supersaver tickets for 16 June. One couple has cancelled and another has taken their place. Can I change the names on 2 of the tickets or should I cancel those and book 2 new seats? Will I get a refund for the cancelled tickets?

Firstly, welcome to the SBB Community.

No, Supersaver tickets cannot be changed or refunded. You have to purchase two new tickets, the others are lost.

Supersaver tickets are not convenient for tourists; you should only buy them if you are 100& certain that you can get the connection and all people of your travel group will do so as well.

OUCH! At €32.40 each for 1st class that is a loss of €130. A lot of money when the rate of exchange for our South African Rand is so high. It wouldn’t compromise the SBB to allow a change of name. It has been my experience that the conductor only looks at the ticket and never asks for a passport to check the name anyway.

Customers are required to have their personal tickets in line with their official identity document / passport.

This is a wrong advice to fellow customers. Identity checks are indeed performed. Just because you have not been asked for your passport, it does not mean, the name on the ticket is not important. Please see the conditions when using e-tickets.

If your ticket is not conform during a ticket check, you will pay a surcharge of at least CHF 90 plus a new ticket.
