connection with SNCF - TGV

I want to buy a train from Zurich to Avignon. There is though a 5 minutes transfer in Renens in the ticket. I would not mind if it were only Switzerland, but what would happen to my TGV connection that I bought in the same ticket? will I be able to board the next one in case of delay, without extra costs?

Yes, you can take the next train with the same ticket, but you must exchange the TGV reservation at the ticket office without extra costs. Note that you can obtain a compensation if you arrive with a delay of 60 minutes and more, except if the railways are not responsible (external causes).

That is an odd routing. You can do this trip faster, and with less changes traveling via Dijon or Mulhouse. What you are now doing is going Zurich - Geneva - Lyon on conventional trains, and only on TGV from Lyon onwards.

However if you are committed to this route you can also take an IC1 service to Geneve half an hour earlier. The IC1 goes at xx:32, whereas the IC5 you have originally selected leaves at xx:04. Granted, the IC5 takes a nicer route…

Please also note that customs may check the identity of every person travelling to France in Geneva. As mentioned in the previous post, it is better to arrive earlier.
