Travel Overview does not match tickets - Chiasso or Lugano?

I have tickets from Milan to Luzern booked and the tickets say:

ORDINARIA, 2nd class Milano Centrale - Chiasso
Regular offer International, 2nd class Chiasso - Luzern

But my SBB travel overview says this…. is my train arriving in Chiasso or in Lugano??

The change is at Lugano. The two tickets you have got do cover the entire journey.

My ticket shows Trenord train (I booked it on SBB)
Trenord 25522
from Milan
Arrival: Chiasso
Hours 15:29 - 04/05/2025. (this arrival time is different from my Overview document that says Lugano)

Then my next ticket shows
04.05 00:00 Chiasso ì Luzern 05.05 05:00 2
via Gotthard *****
Only valid with international ticket. CIV 85 without VAT.

So if it goes through Lugano and not Chiasso, is that where I will change trains?

I do understand your question.

Stay on board the 25222 train to Lugano and change there, as suggested by the itinerary.

Again: your ticket from Chiasso to Lucerne is also valid for the 25522 Trenord train, which is in fact a TILO train, a joint-venture by Trenord and SBB.

The tickets are split into Milan-Chiasso / Chiasso - Lucerne for VAT (tax) reasons. Swiss domestic tickets in combination with international tickets are exempt from VAT.

Does that make sense?

Yes I believe that makes sense. I will stay on the train through the Chiasso station at the border and stay on the 2522 train until Lugano, and then change to the IC 684 train to Luzern.

What you have to understand is this: You may believe you bought a ticket for a train, whereas in fact you bought a ticket for a route.

You have a ticket for the route Milano - Chiasso valid on any regional train on that route within the period of validity of the ticket. (Have a look, it should be mentioned).
And you have another ticket for the route Chiasso - Luzern, good for any train on the route for a whole day. (In fact, till the next day at 5:00).

You can use these tickets to travel on that route, on your travel day, and can even take later or earlier trains and even lay in a stopover en route in Switzerland…
