Direct Train Zurich to Milan June 29th 2025

I know there are rail closures Domodossola to Milan on this day. But the ZurichHB to Milan direct train goes through Lugano and it SBB time table seems to indicate it’s running normally, but I am getting conflicting info that all EC trains are being re-routed to Domodossola and forced on the bus to Milan.

Does anyone have more information on this?

It is correct that Italy knows another yearly timetable change in June. It might be that not all connections have been made bookable yet.

The SBB timetable shows direct connections. You are fine to book these; it is the railway operator’s responsiblity to offer an alternate connection in case your already booked connection is canceled for whatever reason.
Train operators in Europe have the obligation to transport people holding a valid ticket.

I do not know about any reroutings. To reroute the Zurich to Milan trains via Domodissola is defintely not happening, it would not make any sense and mean a huge detour. Rather trains are canceled from the border station Chiasso but I have no info an that.

RolandP So it seems if I book a direct train from Zurich to Milan then it should not be impacted by the rail work project in June. I want to avoid having to get on a bus.
