Class Upgrade with Swiss Travel Pass for 2nd class

Class upgrade
I am from India and propose to buy Swiss travel pass - 2nd class for 8 days for travel during May 2025. How can I upgrade from 2nd class to first class for a specific journey when I buy Swiss travel pass for international tourists? Menu is little confusing and talks about upgrade from second class ticket or day pass.

Hi and welcome to the SBB Community.

If you hold a 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass and you want to ride in 1st class, you can purchase a class upgrade ticket (either for a route or a day pass) at ½ fare. How to set the half fare option in the SBB Mobile app we described here:

Note: Travelling with the Swiss Travel Pass, aa with any e-ticket, requires your physical passport upon ticket check. Passport copies or photos on smart phones are not accepted.

Thank you Roland. One more question. When we buy a Swiss travel pass is it necessary to reserve tickets in all trains other than premium panoramic trains? I’ll appreciate your reply. Thanks.
