Night train booking

I would like to book a night train from Zurich to Vienna.
I’m planning to travel on the night of October 10th and have been checking for ticket availability. Currently, tickets are only available up to the night of October 9th.
There are two types of trains operating on this route: EN and NJ. However, due to construction on that date, it seems only the EN train is available for reservation.
But when the night train for the 9th became available, I clicked on it right away, and it was already marked as “booked up.”
Do these trains really sell out within just 10 seconds?

Firstly, good day and welcome to the SBB Comnmunity.

You are trying to book a train whose departure is months in the future. No local would ever bother booking a train ticket months before. Usually, trains are available for booking 3 months ahead of time, no longer.

Due to planned construction, the timetable has not yet been confirmed.

We suggest checking availabilities with either ÖBB or Nightjet at a later stage.

The SBB system is unable to distinguish between “I cannot find free seats because the train is sold out” and “I cannot find free seats because the train is not open for booking yet”. That is a known problem, and the SBB programmers appear to be in no hurry to solve this.

But reset assured. Trains do not sell out months in advance. Trains do not sell out in seconds. Its a train, not a Taylor Swift concert.
