Swiss Travel Pass or Eurail Pass?

Hello! On our last day in Switzerland, we will be crossing into Austria (Zurich to Salzburg). Can I use my Swiss Travel Pass for this journey or do I need to use a Eurail Pass as we are crossing borders? Thanks!

And why not purchasing a simple point-to-point ticket?

The Swiss Travel Pass is valid to the border station only.

Thanks for the input…I already have a 8 day Swiss travel pass, so I was just seeing if I could use it up instead of purchasing another ticket.

If your Swiss Travel Pass is still valid on the day you leave for Austria you only need to buy a ticket from the border station to your destination in Austria. You do not necessarily need an Eurail Pass.

So just go to www.oebb.at and buy a ticket Buchs (SG) to Salzburg. Maybe look up Zurich (or wherever it is in Switzerland you are starting) to Salzburg on line first, and take a note when that train calls at Buchs, so you can book the correct ticket.
