Hi I'm planning to travel from Zurich to Milan with my family on June 17th. 1. I have a swiss travel pass which I'm planning to use from Zurich to Chasso. I need to do a seat reservation for this. When i try to do it in the app with the "seat reservation only" option there comes a msg that says 'we cannot offer you a reservation for this connection'. But when I try to do this for Zurich to Lugano I'm able to do a reservation. Zurich to Milan using Swiss Travel Pass

Hi I’m planning to travel from Zurich to Milan with my family on June 17th.

I have a swiss travel pass which I’m planning to use from Zurich to Chasso. I need to do a seat reservation for this. When i try to do it in the app with the “seat reservation only” option there comes a msg that says ‘we cannot offer you a reservation for this connection’. But when I try to do this for Zurich to Lugano I’m able to do a reservation.

2.I would like to know how / website to book a ticket and reserve a seat for the same train with the same seats from either Chiasso/ Lugano to Milan.

You do not need reservations for the Swiss part of the trip.

Just book Chiasso - Milano with Trenitalia, and just do not bother with reservations for the Zurich - Chiasso part.

With a STP you can buy a ticket Zurich - Milan and indicate that you have a GA Travelcard as discount, you will pay only for Italy but get a seat reservation from Zurich.

You do not need confirmed seats on that leg (as with allmost all Swiss trains). When you board in Zurich you will be at the start of the trains’ trip. Just get to the station a few minutes earlier, and just take your seats already in Zurich. Worst case you may have to move while en route.

You can book with SBB as indicated by Danhiel, but often booking only the Italian part with Trenitalia is cheaper.
