Today we set off from Winterthur to go to Konstanz. Part of the train line was closed due to a malfunction. Of course, that can happen. A replacement bus service was arranged for the section between Frauenfeld and Kreuzlingen. But there was only one bus — just one bus for a whole train full of passengers. The bus was completely packed. Naturally, many passengers couldn’t get on, including us. The next bus was scheduled for half an hour later, which was the arrival time of the next train. How can something so absurd happen! At least two or three buses should have been arranged, right? We had no choice but to turn back.

The line is closed due to maintenance work. And this has been planned and announced well in advance. It is not the first weekend where the line is closed. There has been a media release as well:

SBB hires local bus companies or Postauto to operate rail replacement buses. They plan and organise the buses independently. Your feedback to SBB helps to improve this service.

And, yes, even if you understandingly are frustrated, a hello or greeting is still appreciated. Remember, your lines are read by another human who is neither responsible for the unsatisfied service.
