Travel from Italy to Switzerland via Swiss Half Fare Card and Family Card

Hi All,
I and my 3 kids will travel from Florence to Zurich. I bought Swiss Half Fare Card for myself and get the Family Card for my 3 kids. Florence to Zurich train is actually from Florence to Milan (Italy) and then from Milan to Zurich. My question is “do I need to buy tickets for my kids?” or "Swiss Half Fare Card and Family Card cover the routes starting outside the Switzerland? Thank you

Yes, you need tickets for you and your kids in Italy. No, Swiss Cards are not valid in this country. I suggest to buy these tickets separately:

— Florence – Milano – Chiasso (border station) on Trenitalia.com or in Trenitalia app. Some discounts are probably also available for families (FrecciaFAMILY and Bimbi gratis):
