Question on railaway tickets

Hello,

I am planning on booking the combined railaway offer to go to Bernina Glacier area starting from Tirano by Raetian trains. So I wonder if the railaway point to point ticket will be valid as:

1) A “day pass” for stops in between Tirano and my destination, in this case Bernina Diavolezza. So I can also visit other nice spots on this route.

2) A ticket for the famous Bernina Express train w/o Seat reservation, so I can decide if I want to use the panoramic service or the regular regional service and book the seat reservation myself on desired train and direction.

With the point to point ticket the route is given. But you are free to choose the time you want to travel and you can also leave the train and continue your trip later.

If you travel with the Bernina Express (panoramic train) the seat reservation is mandatory and can be done here. If you travel with a regular regional train, the seat reservation is not possible. The point to point ticket is valid on both trains.

I wish to add two more facts:

As @RahelW said, you can take as many intermediate stops you want. Backtracking is, however, not permitted.

Besides the coaches with seats requiring reservation, the Bernina Express also has regular coaches attached which do not require seat reservation.

I am going to book a return point to point ticket with railaway special rate. So I think it will not be a problem even for back tracking as I will have tickets for both direction.

And thanks for the information about the regular cabin on Bernina Express.
