Not getting free price for Children under Swiss Family card with Half fare card.

Hi. I bought the Half fare card and also added my children under the Swiss Family card. While booking the ticket from Meirengen to Handegg, I am not getting free price for the children. I am travelling by bus. While selecting the child, should i use Junior Travelcard or dont include the children in the booking process at all. Since its a bus travel, i am assuming we need to allocate the seats unlike train

Welcome in the SBB Community.

All our national public transit services have free seating, with the exception of three touristic trains

PE Glacier Express (GEX),
PE Gotthard Panorama Express GoPEX),
PE GoldenPass Express (GPX), and
and some mountain pass excursion tour buses operated by Postauto

The bus you are talking about is used by the locals, too, to go after their daily business. They would not be happy if they had to reserve a seat for each ride.

That said, the Swiss Family Card is the child’s ticket when travelline while being accompanied by you.

Does that make sense?

The bus from Meiringen to Handegg is just a local bus, you do not need to buy it in advance. There is no advantage in doing so.
And are you staying in Meiringen? If you are travelling from somewhere else you just need one ticket, from wherever your trip starts, to Meiringen. In Switzerland tickets are for a route, not a train or a bus. So travelling eg. Luzern - Handegg requires just one ticket.

Yes we are staying in Meirengen.
We will be going to Gelmersee to catch the 11 am furnicular. We just thought that if we dont get the Meirengen - Handegg bus, we might not reach the furnicular on time. Hence we are trying to book in advance. If its a local bus and needs no reservation, is there a chance that we may not get a seat for the 9:25 am bus when we go and book on that day,

The only thing you need to do to be on the right bus is be at the bus stop on time. It is of course possible that more people board than there are seats, and in that case some people might have to stand. That is however not common. Buying your ticket in advance does not change anything, as it does not give you any privileges versus people who just buy at on the spt…
