I live in a place (Wengen) where you can have same day delivery of flight luggage from ZRH. Given the challenges of getting here this is a very convenient service.
However it appears that this is a well kept secret. SBB and Switzerland Tourism apparently do not want you to find out how to book this.
When you go to
https://www.sbb.ch/en/tickets-offers/reservation-luggage/flight-luggage/zurich-airport/zurich-from-station.html
You read there:
It is possible to book return luggage transport to Switzerland from abroad, but this must be done in Switzerland before departure.
That is of course useless for a tourist coming from abroad. And I would guess that express luggage service to Wengen would be mostly targeted at tourists, right?
However, at the bottom there is this:
For passengers from abroad: This offer can only be booked via a tour operator or Swiss Travel System (Link opens in new window). point of sale.
When you click on the link you land here:
https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/planning/transport-accommodation/service-support/luggage/travelling-to-switzerland/
Flight luggage from foreign airports to a train station in Switzerland
Regardless of which airline you have chosen and from which international airport you arrive in Switzerland: Via Zurich airport, your luggage travels to a selected destination station – all thanks to the “flight luggage foreign airport to station” service.
More information
When you click on “more information” you get send back to the SBB, to the page you just came from.
So no obvious link as to where you can order flight luggage as a tourist…
So what is the deal here? Is it the intention of SBB that nobody manages to find this service, and that as a result they can discontinue it because nobody uses it?
