School pass please help?

Hi,

We are a youth group visiting Switzerland in August. 20 children and 6 adults. Can we use the school pass for multiple journeys in one day? For example travel from Kandersteg to Thun in the morning. But in the afternoon on return go from Thun to Spiez then Spiez to Kandersteg?

Yes, this is possible. The day pass allows unlimited travel on the rail & bus network for that day.

RolandP thank you Roland. I’m a bit confused as when you try to book on the SBB Link for the school pass it only allows you to book a start and and point. Does that mean we can get off in the middle of the journey and then get back on?

This is because a for some trains a mandatory seat reservation is necessary.

helloo @Kauchuessoss76, Im having the same “problem” as you. When booking the pass we have to book a start and an end point, but this is a day pass so can we travel wherever that day?
Did you get more information about this? If so, could you share please?

Hi, it took me a while to figure out but once I got the hang of it it was quite easy.

I emailed kandersteg@bls.ch who were really helpful as this is the station we will be starting our journey from.

They sent me this form which seemed easier than the one on SBB site but books the same school pass.

For each step of the journey add another stop with the times you have planned. Doesn’t matter about gaps in travel just put every stop of your day.

We booked three separate days using. On one of the days we are getting the train to Spiez, boat on Thun lake, bus to interlaken and then the train back to Kandersteg.

I must have sent numerous emails to the team at the station and they were so helpful.

RolandP thanks that makes sense but what if the rout id to go from A to B then B to C? all in the same day. How can we communicate that?

This is why you shall inform SBB about your itinerary, to reserve your seats. We call that group reservation.

RolandP Ok thanks, now i get the group reservation part. But how can I inform that I want to go from per example point A to B and then C? The main problem for communicating is beacuse im from another country really. How do you suggest I do it?

Kauchuessoss76 To book more seat reservations we have to click in “More seat reservations” right? And with that is another stop or trip to do on that day if i understood well.

Yes that’s right. Just put your next step of the journey for all places you are going until you end up at your final destination for the day we had four journeys in one day

Kandersteg to Spiez by train
Spiez to beatusholen by boat
Beatusholen to interlaken west by bus
Interlaken east to Kandersteg by train

Kandersteg station will then email you directly and any changes just email them back. I made a few changes to train times and they changed them by email within minutes.

You then pay on the day you travel.

We had 20 children and 7 adults. You only get 2 adults per 10 children so had to buy 3 day saver passes for the adults that couldn’t get the school pass.

Kauchuessoss76 Thank you so much for all this valuable info. I have another question. Were you guys by chance a scout group and that’s the reason you went to Kandersteg or is it just a coincidence? Just curious because im also going with my scout group to the same location.
