Shipping luggage without a point to point ticket

Hello! In some of the discussion strings above it sounds like one could ship luggage on SBB between two points even without a point to point ticket on that route if they have a Swiss Half-Fare Travelcard. Is a Swiss Half-Fare Card (for non-Swiss residents) for the period of the shipment sufficient to cover this requirement? Thank you for this clarification!

No, the Swiss Half Fare Card is not sufficient.
The Half Fare Card (for residents) and the Swiss Half Fare Card (for tourists) usually have the same range of validity, but not what concerns the luggage shipping.

For shipping luggage without a point-to-point ticket, the customer must be in the possession of a seasonal ticket valid for 12 months; the Swiss Half Fare Card does not fall under that condition. (Tariff T602-2.1)

Thank you very much Roland! I hope you can please answer a few follow up questions….?

If we pay for a door-to-door luggage transfer (say, a Zurich hotel to a hotel in Attinghausen), we would print the bag tags that come with our luggage transfer booking and leave our bags at the Zurich hotel for pickup. But who then checks to be sure we have a matching point to point train ticket to Attinghausen? Would we have to be present when the bags are picked up?

The contractual conditions require that someone is present upon pickup. This can be you, a group member, or a hotel receptionist. And, you have to leave a copy of your tickets at the pickup location. You can print a copy, just take the copy that was sent to your e-mail upon purchase.
