Gouttoashaul30 I however would need a physical card to avail half fare discount on the Matterhorn Glacial Paradise booking.
No, you don’t need a physical card for that. First of all, you don’t ‘book’ a ride on those cableways or any other Swiss public transportation. You simply pay an admission fee, which is always available in unlimited numbers and which does NOT ‘secure’ you any ‘seat’.
Furthermore, buying such expensive cableway tickets in advance is never a good idea, because the weather could be bad on that travel date. That would mean the most expensive fog at the summit you’ve ever paid to watch for in your life (or big frustration with not applicable refunds, in case they’re not operating due to force majeure, such as strong winds).
Bottom line:
Simply buy those cableway tickets at the ticket office across the cableway station or at the tourist office (while presenting your digital half fare card), once you know for sure that the weather will be fine on the summit. There’s no disadvantage at all doing so even if that ticket purchase takes a few additional minutes, as there’s another gondola within less than every minute.
