Passport and Ticket Name minor mismatch

Hi Team,

I was hoping someone could help me double confirm whether this would be an issue.

I recently purchased a ticket from Paris Gare Du Lyon to Bern. The first name on the ticket I bought is ‘Matthew’; however, on my passport, it is ‘Matthew Mxxx Fxx’. - Will this be an issue?

I tried calling the SBB Contact Centre for support, and the lady who took the call said that it should be fine. I just wanted to double confirm here and give myself a level of confidence that this won’t cause any problems on the day of my travel.

Why should a response from the Contact Centre be less truthful/authoritative than responses from ‘clueless’ travellers in this forum?

Several firstnames in a birth certificate or passport, while only the first one being used in real life is a pretty common scenario, same here. AFAIK, multiple firstnames are only enforced to some extent with immigration documents (e,g, visa) and flight tickets.
Just imagine those royals with not only 3, but 8 or more firstnames… those would never fit in any online form field due to the max. number of characters.
