How to activate the Swiss Travel Pass Flex

Hello, I have purchased Swiss Travel Passes for myself and my husband. We will need them for travel Sept 17-16, 2025. We have downloaded the SBB Mobile app on our phones, and have the paper printout showing the QR codes. I have also created an account on the app. Are there any actions that I can take prior to my trip? I would like to enter the QR code so that I have it on my phone, however do not want to accidentally activate my travel pass. Please advise if there is anything I can do, or need to do, before I end up in the airport in Zurich wishing I’d done something before I left to expedite the process. Thank you for your assistance.

You have purchased a 3-day Swiss Travel Pass for a 2-day trip?
Is it a Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Travel Pass Flex?

For two days, the Saver Day Pass would have been more cost-effective, costing it CHF 79 for 17 SEP instead of CHF 112 for a 3-day STP being used on two days.

You have to activate your pass for each day either day-by-day or all days in one step through this website:

https://www.activateyourpass.com/

Then, you can download the generated ticket and save it as a screenshot. Or, you can add it to the Apple wallet.

You can deactivate an already activated day again if you do so until 23:59 the day before.

Kindly note, the Swiss Travel Pass is only valid if you carry your physical valid passport or official state ID card with you. Copies or photos are considered valid and are therefore not accepted.

The pass does not need to be activated. It is automatically valid on the days you bought it for.

So if you have PDF printouts of the passes you are all set. At the airport just find the train you want to get on, and get on. Then on the train, when so requested, show the PDF.

Hello, many thanks to you both for your replies. The dates on my query are a typo, it should have said Sept 17-Sept 26, or ten days. We have 6 day Swiss Travel Pass Flex. So I understand that I will just need to have my paper printout and nothing on my phone. Thank you, I appreciate your responses.

Oh, you have the Swiss Travel Pass Flex. That changes everything. With that pass you do indeed need to activate each day before you can use it. You should have gotten instructions with it.
Note that you also need to activate a day if you want to use the pass to obtain a reduction on a mountain railway. Which is why I believe that the Flex Pass is not that useful.
