Trenitalia Ticket Not valid for travel (Regional Trains)

Hello !
I bought a ticket from Milano to Brig with transfer in Domodossola yesterday.
When I received the email from SBB with the tickets, the ticket from Milano to Domodossola says “NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL” in the details passanger.
And now, I don’t know if that ticket is valid or not.
What to do ?

I managed to contact Trenitalia, (SBB sends the tickets, nevertheless Trenitalia is the final responsible, not SBB).
They confirmed that those tickets are “standard”, that all the tickets are the same.
I appreciated the confirmation but I got a bit disappointed because it is confusing for traverls. No additional reply from Trenitalia.

In my opinion, Trenitalia should change the procedure…..

I guess that you travel with a regional train. Trenitalia already made an improvement: it is no more necessary to make a check-in before boarding the train, but this check-in occurs now automatically. It means that you have to modify the train before departure if you want to travel with another one.

You are not in fact expected to buy regional tickets in advance, and that explains that the procedure is a bit confusing, as it is not really tested well.

Two remarks:

It used to be that links were underlined. Showing them only in red means that some people (eg. me) just do not see that easily that there is somewhere to click.
So you got a ticket that is not a ticket. That is indeed confusing. This can be done better…

I think that it is mandatory to issue a ticket for fiscal reasons only, to have a proof that you paid the VAT. It is useful for business travelers.

Please also note that it is not possible to choose another day or another train if you buy the ticket through SBB. You have to call the SBB Contact Center. If you buy the ticket through Trenitalia, you can make changes just before departure (train) or the day before departure (date).

But what do you show the train conductor on the train then, if you are not given a ticket that is valid for travel?
(And try to think about this from the point of view of someone who is taking a train for the first time in their life…)

Note that with Italian tickets bought on SBB I have so far always been able to load them in the Trenitalia App, and manage them their from then on.

When you follow the links you will find a QR code, but I didn’t copy it for security reasons (however it is unlikely that someone called Harry Potter could use it…).

It is still possible to load it in Trenitalia app, you will also have a QR code, but it is now impossible to manage it. I bought the same ticket in Trenitalia app and I have other options.
