Replacement Bus (EV) between Zweilutschinen and Lauterbrunnen

Hi! I am planning to travel from Luzern to Lauterbrunnen on 3 Nov 2025, and the usual route should be Luzern > Meiringen > Interlaken Ost > Lauterbrunnen (last leg on the Berner Oberland Railway R62, which is 2h 22 min.

However, when I try to search for this route on 3 Nov, it does not appear. I am only shown a route which is 4h 21min long and brings me from Luzern > Meiringen > Interlaken Ost > Grindelwald Terminal > Eigergletscher > Kleine Scheidegg > Lauterbrunnen.

I saw on SBB’s website that there is a replacement bus (EV) between Zweilutschinen and Lauterbrunnen station from 27 Oct 2025 to 15 Nov 2025 due to construction works. However, this EV route between Zweilutschinen and Lauterbrunnen is not displayed on SBB’s website for my selected dates, but is shown for other dates like 10 Nov 2025.

I’m quite confused and wondering if this means the EV is not provided for my travel dates of 3-6 Nov? Or if it is, how do I go about buying my tickets if the route is not shown? How do I purchase tickets to get on that EV bus?

You do not buy a ticket for the EV bus. Nor do you buy a ticket for a train. You just buy a ticket Luzern - Lauterbrunnen, valid on the day you want to travel (and you have till the moment you board the first train for that) and it will be valid for whatever is offered on the route at that time.
The EV bus should not result in a longer trip. Do not worry. November is still a long time away. I just looked on www.sbb.ch and the trip time is still 2h22…

Thank you for your reply! When I search for Luzern > Lauterbrunnen route on 3 Nov I am only shown this route as being available for tickets. Am I doing something wrong in my search? I’m just concerned whether the EV service will be running from 3-6 Nov as it shows up for routes from 10 Nov, so I wld think the info should be in SBB’s database already if it’s provided

Also, if I get a Jungfrau Travel Pass, is the replacement bus to Lauterbrunnen automatically included and I can just get a ticket frm Luzern > Interlaken Ost?

It is the local BOB railway operator (aka Jungfrau Railways) who are feeding the SBB database with their timetable data, which appears to be incomplete right now.

Relax, something will operate on those days between the two villages, and as always, the regular tickets for the intended route will be valid on that replacement service (where tickets are usually never checked anyway).

If it helps you sleep better again, you could contact Jungfrau Railways for a confirmation. Oh, and if you do, also tell them to fix their timetable data transmitted to SBB by the way. 😉

There are two possibilities here:

there will be a replacement bus.
there will be huge brouhaha giving you a story that you can tell your children and grandchildren and great grandchildren for years to come…

I leave it to you what you to figure out what is most likely :-)

A few notes:

The station is just called Lauterbrunnen. “Lauterbrunnen, bahnhof” is just a bus stop named “bahnhof” in the village Lauterbrunnen. By some coincidence that bus stop is indeed near the railway station :-)
When a service gets replaced by another service as a matter of expectation tickets and passes remain valid. Remember: There are no train tickets. There are no bus tickets. There are just transport tickets. A Jungfrau Travel Pass covers transport from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, so of course you can use it to travel from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. And this irrespective of wether the transport offered is a a train, a bus or a horse drawn buggy…

Thank you both for your responses! I did an updated search and the usual route from Luzern>Lauterbrunnen does show up now for 3 Nov with the EV replacement bus 😃

But it seems I’m not able to buy the tickets yet. Is this because the date is still too far away?

This a known problem with replacement buses, changes are necessary in pricing system. You should try later, it is not necessary to buy this ticket in advance.

Probably because “Lauterbrunnen, busterminal” is not an official public transit stop. They need to fix that in the system.
