Help! Half fare passes & Saver Day prices

Hi folks…I’ve purchased 2 half fare passes for my wife and I for travel in Switzerland in early May ‘26. We’re looking to travel on the 6th and figured I’d get a Saver Day pass for travel on that day, understanding that it’s good for an entire day.

Here’s the dilemma - I see that the cost of a full price Saver Day ticket for both of us is $176 CHF. With the half fare, it should be $88 CHF. However, when I apply the half fare discount to both of us, the cost says $118 CHF. And when I actually go further to purchase it, it shows up as total cost of $147 CHF - $88 for me and $59 for my wife.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong…any assistance would be appreciated!

So a half fare saver pass for the 2 of us should run $118 for both of us?

However, when I click to buy, it says it’s a total of CHF $147. What am I missing?

The saver’s pass has flexible pricing, as do most airline tickets for example. It is mainly dependent on the number of savers daypasses already sold on that day. This also means that the half fare card, despite its name, will not ensure you a discount of 50%; it might be more, it might be less. As I see it, there is one daypass left before the price rises from 59 Fr. to 88 Fr..
You give the prices in $, but the prices displayed are in Swiss Francs. Note that at the current exchange rate, 1 swiss franc is approx. $1.24.
Depending on which journey you are planing to do, direct tickets might be cheaper.

Something is wrong. If you buy two Saver Day Passes Half Fare 1st class, the actual price should be CHF 118 (Swiss Francs) and not CHF 147, unless you buy something else in the same transaction, e.g. seat reservations.

You will see the price in $ only on your credit card account, because your bank and not SBB makes the exchange CHF –> $ and adds sometimes fees. Check also the date, if you buy passes for another day, the price may be different. And check if you really choose Saver Day Passes and not other tickets.

I beg to disagree, 118 USD would be around 100 CHF. The CHF has been the stronger currency for decades, whether the clown ruling your country likes it or not. On both screenshots above, I do see only CHF prices.

Now you’re obviously considering 1st class saver day passes.
According to Danhiel’s screenshot, one full fare 1st class SDP is 88.- , two would be 176.-
One half fare 1st class SDP is 59.-, two would be 118.-

Those 147.- which you see at the bottom of your screenshot happen to be the total of 88.- plus 59.-!
Which obviously means that one passenger has the half fare reduction already selected under the passenger details, while the other passenger still has no reduction selected.

Just a little update - I did a little live chat session with an sbb chat rep and they were extremely helpful. There was definitely something funky going on with the browser.

Even on replication with the agent and attempting to purchase the again and only for myself, it showed the half fare applied initially and when I went to to final payment screen, it showed a full price ticket.

The agent suggested I use the app to purchase and that worked fine & they refunded the initial transaction.

Thanks so much for your assistance here…I learned a bit and was also relieved that I wasn’t completely off-base in what I was seeing. Really appreciate your time to respond to my issue!
