I will be traveling to Switzerland from china in two months. I purchased a discounted Swiss train day pass through a third-party chinese online agent. I didn’t initially doubt the authenticity of the ticket, but I noticed that my surname was misspelled on it. The agent quickly corrected it to the right name and sent me a new PDF e-ticket, explaining that they were able to fix the incorrect name within 180 minutes.
However, based on my understanding, SBB’s policy generally does not allow any changes to purchased tickets—at most, you can cancel and repurchase within 30 minutes. In that case, it would be a completely new ticket, not a modified version of the original one. But the corrected ticket provided by the agent still carries the original ticket number and order number, which makes me doubt whether the ticket is genuine, as this seems inconsistent with SBB’s policy.
My first question is: How can I verify whether the train ticket I bought through a third-party agent is authentic?
My second question is: Is it really possible to modify the name on a purchased ticket without changing the ticket number and order number?
