Difference between "Swiss Half Fare Card" and "Half-fare Travelcard"

Good morning, I’m looking to take a day trip to Jungfraujoch from Interlaken, going up via Grindenwald and down via Lauterbrunnen. Prices aren’t exactly cheap, but I see they’re reduced with the “Swiss Half Fare Card,” which seems to be valid for a month. There’s also the “Half Fare Travelcard,” which is more expensive but appears to be valid for a year. Besides being valid for the trip to Jungfraujoch, are both valid for train journeys between Geneva Airport, Bern, Interlaken, and Lauterbrunnen? Are there any other differences between them? When I enter a train journey on the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) website, it shows the possible discount with the “Half Fare Travelcard.” I’m not sure if the other one would be valid. I’d like to run some numbers and see if it’s worth it; the world of Swiss transport tickets seems complicated.

Prices aren’t exactly cheap

No surprise, you about to do the most expensive mountain trip in Switzerland. It is expensive, even for the Swiss people. Many of the Swiss have never been up there as they cannot afford the ticket prices.

The Swiss Half Fare Card is for tourists; the Half Fare Card is rather destined for residents. Both do have the same validity and, what concerns the purchase of tickets, Half Fare Card also stands for the Swiss Half Fare Card.

Swiss public transit isn’t complicated, you will see once you are here: one ticket for all means of transport.

Thank you very much, RolandP. So, I can get a “Swiss half fare card” for 120 CHF, valid for one month, which will give me discounts on train tickets and on journeys from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch? And if so, when I buy a train ticket, I assume I can choose the “half-fare travelcard” option to get the 50% discount?
