Should I travel to Jungfrau using the website or with SBB?

I see that I can book the journeys between Interlaken and Jungfraujoch through either the Jungfrau website or the SBB website, which I assume will be the same price. Is it better to book through one of them?
In any case, since the best option for me is to use the “Swiss half fare card,” should I first buy this fare on the SBB website and then apply it to the Jungfrau trip bookings, regardless of the platform I use? Is that correct?
I’m planning a trip in February. I’ve read that it’s recommended not to book Jungfrau in advance due to the weather. Would it be the same to buy the “Swiss half fare card” beforehand and then book the transport to Jungfrau once I’m there? Could I encounter occupancy issues in February? Are tickets not refundable? I have many questions, thank you.

You do not need to have the Half Fare Card in possession to purchase tickets with half fare discount. You only need to be able to show it during a ticket control, ie, on the train itself. So buying a ticket now, with discount, and then getting the HFC later is indeed possible. You can even buy the HFC here at the station.

However I would not book the Jungfrau trip in advance. Just buy it here. The trains have enough capacity. You may, depending on your other plans, want to look in to local passes like the Jungfrau Travel Pass.

Thanks for your reply, Kris. The Jungfrau Travel Pass isn’t suitable for me because I’ll only be in Interlaken for one day, so I only have that one day to go up to Jungfrau.
I assume, then, that I should buy the “Swiss Half Fare Card” (I’m Spanish), and mention when I buy the train tickets or the trip to Jungfrau that I have this fare, and they’ll apply the corresponding discount. Then, on the train itself, I’ll have to show the conductor both the ticket and the Swiss Half Fare Card.

Please also note that the Swiss Half Fare Card will cost more in 2026 (150 CHF). It will only be profitable if you make other trips by public transport in Switzerland and not only the Jungfraujoch.

Yes, I’ve done the calculations based on my travel plans, and although the Swiss half fare card is just barely worth it, since I calculated it for the actual dates, I’ve already factored in the 150 CHF. The savings really amount to about 10 CHF each (there will be two of us) for the five days we’ll be in Switzerland, but if any additional trips come up, they’ll be covered. If I don’t travel to Jungfrau, then it’s not worth it for me.
