About the point-to-point ticket I bought

Yesterday I bought tickets for the return trip from Bern to Geneva Airport. I selected the time that suited me best so I could arrive at the airport a little over two hours before my flight, and I bought a point-to-point train ticket, as it was the only option for that day and the most convenient. The ticket says “point-to-point ticket” valid from 00:00 on the day I selected until 5:00 the following day.
This schedule seems more like a “saver day pass.” I’d like to know if I have to use the exact time I selected or if I can change it within that window.

No specific connection is mentioned on your ticket (this happens only with supersaver tickets), therefore a point-to-point ticket is really valid for more than 24h on the selected day, allowing you to take any train on the mentioned route.

Do not consider a public transportation ticket in Switzerland as a ‘booking’ (as with flights), rather as an ‘admission fee’ with a more or less generous validity period. The passenger numbers on a specific service could impossibly be limited by the numbers of tickets sold, due to the countless subscriptions or passes with free selection of services (such as the saver day pass).

A ticket is basically a receipt that you have paid. In this case you have paid for "one trip from Bern to Geneva, to be undertaken between 00:00 on the day you bought it for till 6:00 the day after.

So you are not limited to the train you selected during the booking. That is how trains are supposed to work.
So you can just go to the Bern station and hop on any train to Geneva on that day.

Understood, that gives me more flexibility.

So, the difference between the “saver day pass” and the “point-to-point” pass is simply that the former allows you to use any route during those hours, while the latter is limited to the route you’ve chosen. Is that correct?

In most cases, yes.
The daypass is allowed on any train, bus, boat and tramway anywhere in Switzerland (with very few exceptions like panoramic or mountain trains).

The point-to-point ticket is valid for one journey as specified on that ticket. Usually, this is one given route. It is also possible that the ticket gives you a selection; this will be printed on the ticket; for example “Zürich HB - Genève Aéroport via Bern o Biel/Bienne” where the ‘o’ is short for ‘or’.

There also would be the supersaver’s ticket which is only valid for a specific connection.
