Clarification on Saver Day Pass vs Chur–Tirano Route Ticket

I am currently booking a journey from Chur to Tirano on Wednesday, 03 June 2026.

During the booking process, I’ve selected the “Saver Day Pass” (CHF 52.00). However, I am a bit confused by the information shown, as the journey page also mentions the Chur–Tirano route and indicates that seat reservations are required and currently unavailable.

Does this mean that the Saver Day Pass I am purchasing is:

A full “Saver Day Pass” that allows unlimited travel on eligible Swiss public transport for the entire day, or

A Saver ticket that is limited only to the Chur–Tirano route?

Additionally, I would like to confirm whether the Saver Day Pass itself is valid for travel on the Bernina route using regular regional trains, even if seat reservations for the Bernina Express panoramic train are sold out.

YES, that is the case. And, it is also valid for the Bernina train line. It is valid on all public transit services in Switzerland no matter the train type or service.

Seat reservations are usually available 90 days out yet must be made from the RhB website which is the operator of the Bernina line (not SBB).

Keep in mind that the Bernina line is suffering from overtourism; it is strongly recommended to reserve seats.

The Bernina Express train (Chur-Tirano) is an odd exception which requires two things: A ticket (with which you pay for the journey) and a seat reservation (de facto a surcharge for the panoramic train). The Saver’s daypass is a ticket for all of switzerland (but not a seat reservation). Alternatively, there are also supersaver’s tickets (cheaper, but limited avaliability, non-refundable and only valid on selected connection) and the regular point-to-point ticket (a bit more expensive, but refundable and valid for any train on the selected day).
Seat reservations are required for the panoramic train, but not the local train. Note that the panoramic train has a few coaches which are the local train, i.e. you can avoid having to pay the surcharge by travelling on those coaches. It might be more crowded there tough as there is a really high demand on the bernina line. I hope that answers your questions?
