Salzburg - Mürren...

When you try to buy a ticket from Salzburg to Mürren on the SBB site you get this error message:

This error message is confusing. It is also wrong. There is no reason why buying a through ticket to Mürren should not be possible.

The tourist from Australia seeing that now panics. “How am I going to get to Mürren?” they think. Tourist starts looking at rental cars.

Earth to SBB: Get this fixed. This is probably the least helpful error message that I have encountered in years. And make sure that buying tickets to anywhere in Switzerland actually works.

Could you indicate us the date and time of departure and if it is a relation via München or Innsbruck? I would try to reproduce this error.

Du hast der SBB Community geschrieben, statt dem SBB Kundendienst. Die SBB Mobile App sucht für deine Wunschstrecke von Salzburg nach Mürren die Angebote im ÖBB Ticketshop. Die Vorschläge der ÖBB sind recht abenteuerlich: Of sind es Angebote für Teilstrecken bis Zürich HB, bis Bern, im Besten Fall bis Lauterbrunnen. Die Angebote der ÖBB stimmen nicht mit dem Kundenwunsch Reise nach Mürren überein und verursachen die Fehlermeldung.

Du kennst den Ticketshop der ÖBB und könntest das Billett von Salzburg bis Lauterbrunnen bei der ÖBB kaufen.

I took a random date in the next month. This always happens if you select a route that includes the RJ Salzburg - Zurich.
if you go via Munich you do not have this issue. I think the reason is that DB Sparpreis Europe is available till Mürren, but ÖBB Sparschiene is not…

If you in stead select Lauterbrunnen as destination things work…

I know that. Bit the random tourist from Austrlia or China does not. So they rent a car in stead. We have enough tourists visiting by car already.

The purchase process should not be confusing. SBB needs to do something about that.

And this is the problem. Only Standard Flex-Tickets are available from Salzburg to Mürren on ÖBB-Ticketshop. I think that SBB doesn’t want to offer only this option, it would not be fair to the customers, but the system is unable to find that discounted tickets are available to Lauterbrunnen.

A second problem is that discounted tickets are available via München, it is not possible to say to split the trip in the error message. For the customer it is better to have a through ticket, also for the passenger rights.

Exactly. And I know the trick (just book till Lauterbrunnen, and buy the rest separately. Same when going to Wengwald, where I live). But tourists are really confused by that. Idem for the mess on the Simplon route.
