The best price on 1st class train tickets in Zurich

Hello,
My wife and I are traveling to Switzerland for the first time and then on to Paris in May. We’ll wait until we arrive in Zurich airport to purchase a train ticket to Lucerne just incase there are any delays. However, once we’ve arrived at the hotel in Lucerne, we know when we’ll catch the train to Zurich HB and then what day we’ll catch it to Paris.

We want to ride first class. I have downloaded the app and have created an account.

We want to pay the lowest fees so how does this super saver ticket purchase work? Is that the cheapest way to buy tickets?

As long as you take a regular point-to-point ticket to Lucerne, you could also purchase it in advance, provided the date of arrival is fixed. There is neither an advantage nor a difference when purchasing it in advance vs. on-site.

In order to purchase 1st class Super Saver tickets, you must be sure being able to meet the departure time. You can find such tickets when looking for connections indicating the %-sign.
Unless you have your TGV ticket from Zurich, you can either purchase a ticket to Zurich HB or to Basel SBB as the TGV will stop at both stations. There might be more saver ticket offers for Basel SBB, and you can prevent back-tracking by travelling another route which is trough Lucerne’s upstate.
