Unable to purchase tickets from Colombia

Hello, I’m trying to buy the tickets I need for my family trip on September 23rd, but since Saturday, neither the app nor the website will allow me to complete the payment. I’d like to know why this is happening. On the Bernina Express website, I was able to purchase the required seats, but I haven’t been able to buy the ticket, which is sold by SBB. I’ve tried with a Visa card and also with another Mastercard, and the payment has been declined. Perhaps there are some countries with payment restrictions? I would appreciate any help you can provide so I can resolve this and complete the purchase. Thank you very much.

Is 3D Secure ID enabled?

Yes, I have 3D Secure ID enabled on my cards, and I also tried paying with Apple Pay, but it didn’t work either. It’s very strange. What would you advise me to do in this case?

The payment provider from SBB (Datatrans) is a bit picky what concerns credit cards from the Americas.

Make sure, you enter all credit card information in full capital letters. Enter the year as MM/YY.

Thanks, Roland. I’ve tried several different approaches, but I still haven’t been able to complete the purchase. I tried using all capital letters, both for the ticket names and the credit card information. I’ve also tried using the year format YY and YYYY, but that didn’t work either. It’s very strange. You can also buy Swiss train tickets through a reseller, e.g. www.thetrainline.com, but note that they may add a booking fee.

Hi Daniel, Thank you so much for your reply. Trainline and other platforms sell the complete Bernina Express package. I’ve already purchased the seat reservations; I just need the entry tickets. Buying through Trainline would mean re-booking the seat reservations. I actually thought it would be a very simple process. The 3DS has been required for several purchases I’ve made in Europe, even in Switzerland. However, according to my bank, this purchase on SBB isn’t even being rejected; the request isn’t even being processed. That’s why it’s so strange. On another note, is Omio a secure platform? I see that Omio sells tickets separately without the seat reservations, which might work for me. I appreciate your help.

Book on the German Railways’ website, bahn.de
There you can buy just the ticket (and your trip starts somewhere else, eg. Zurich, buy Zurich - Tirano…)

Thank you so much for your reply. I was able to buy the tickets through the bahn.de app. They don’t charge a commission, and the official SBB tickets are automatically sent to my email.
