Will my ticket purchase agree with my seat reservation

On June 8, my husband and I will travel from Interlaken Ost to Luzern. I wanted to take the panoramic carriage and purchased two seats in Coach 5 by the window, second class, 10:04-11:55am. After the purchase of the seats, I purchased our tickets, the least expensive option was point to point, which, if I am reading this correctly, gives the option of leaving anytime (?) it has no fixed time on the ticket. My question is: should there be anything on this ticket that should show that we are allowed to be in the panoramic coach? Or is my receipt for my reserved seats what allows us to be on that coach? Just curious if I am missing any steps here - wondering if the ticket for the panoramic coaches are meant to more expensive than the regular coaches, without factoring the seat reservation. Hope this is clear!

From Interlaken to Luzern, seat reservations are not mandatory and, except on peak periods, not necessary. These trains have usually only panoramic cars and everyone seats in these cars, tourists and locals.

The tickets will be checked in the train, not the seat reservations. You can see on displays if seats are free or reserved. You can also choose other free seats if you find better ones.

Point-to-point tickets can be use in every train during the day of validity for one trip between the two stations.

That’s correct. Seat reservations are not necessary on the panoramic cars from Interlaken to Luzern.

They are compulsory on the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express, also recommended on the Golden Pass Express because trains are shorter.

Oh well! At least we have a guaranteed spot to sit by the window with a table. It was about a month ago I was planning this and at the time, all the first class car seats for our departure time were already reserved, I took seats with table in the second class panoramic car. So I was getting the impression that these fill up quickly. Thanks for the clarification Danhiel

They only sell reservations in part of the train. That may give the impression that the reservations are selling fast. In practice however most seats cannot even be reserved, and you can just sit where you want.

Tickets and reservations do not need to be “matched” they live in different universes. The conductor will check your ticket, and the reservation would only come in play if someone had taken your reserved seats…

Yes, knowing that the norm is not to book, I am trying to imagine the ‘race’ for a nice seat may result in having to ask someone to move if they try to take a reserved seat that is not theirs. But as you have stated, if there are indicators that the seats are reserved, hopefully people will be courteous enough to heed these signs, and if not, I guess you call on one of the staff to enforce these signs?

If somebody were to be sitting on your reserved place, the first thing you should do is kindly ask them to move. In the most cases, they will not have noted the reservation signs. As a local myself, I usually just sit in a free place and sometimes forget to check the reservation display myself. Most people will probably move if asked to, as you have a reservation. Only if there would be a disagreement (which, after probably thousands of trains I have been on, I never witnessed), you should call a member of the staff.
