What is the advantage of purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass in advance? There is no financial benefit in doing so.
In times where travel became rather insecure, you should not spend money in advance (war, aircraft fuel shortage, flight cancellations, etc).
It is fine to purchase it right before departure.
