The information the tickets give is not about which trains you need to take. The tickets are not for a train. The tickets are for a route. The tickets do not indicate which trains you can take. They indicate which railway lines you can travel on. It is up to you to find out which trains you take. But the system makes that easy nowadays.
When I was younger we bought tickets to places at the other side of Europe without even knowing the schedule (there was a time before the internet). The tickets is basically a permission to travel a certain route.
