From Zürich, Mount Rigi is quite recommendable: IC2 or IR46 to Arth-Goldau, Rack railway to Rigi Kulm and back either via Arth-Goldau (-> IC2/IR46) or Vitznau and boat to Lucerne, then train back (IR70/IR75). All of these (also rack railway and boat) are included in the Swiss Travel pass.
It is not quite an alpine village, but you get a great view onto the alps on one side of the mountain peak and (on a clear day) very far north (even to Germany).
