Hi:

I’m planning to visit Swiss in March, and I have experience some trouble regarding of purchasing train tickets.

When I was trying to purchase the Saver Day Pass in a random day in Feb with half price, I notice the process came to fail. But if I’m trying with full price, I could go through to payment stage.

Is this because I didn’t buy the Half Fare Card yet? If I’m buying this card, am I able to purchase the half fare Save Day Pass?

Another concern is the activation of the Half Fare Card. If I choose the starting date of Half Fare Card is 6th March, am I able to purchase the Saver Day Pass on 6th Jan online, which is 60 days ahead of traveling date.

In short:

No, a failing ticket purchase is not caused by the fact that you are not holding a Swiss Half Fare Card; they might be out of stock as they are limited.
Yes, you can buy a ticket without possessing the Swiss Half Fare Card. You must have a valid Swiss Half Fare Card latest when getting on the train.
