Replacement of old travelcard

Hello everyone,
I have just realized that my travelcard is of the old type (before 2021 or so).
How can I get this card replaced for free? The fee for replacing a lost card is 30 CHF, which makes totally no sense.

Old travelcard? There is the SwissPass, only.

The card is automatically replaced after 10 years.

Why do should the replacement if a lost card be free of charge? This is not the fault of the issuer; Also bank cards are not replaced free of charge in case of loss.

I totally agree that you should pay for replacing a lost card. Point is that I still have the old card (it is not lost) and the only way I find to replace it, is by declaring it lost… Unless I miss something.
Probably asking directly at the SBB desk would be the easier way.

So if you still have your Swisspass (a red card looking roughly like this)

You can just ‘recharge’ it, i.e. load a new monthly pass or yearly pass on it. For that, you ideally create yourself an account on swisspas.ch if you don’t have one yet and then buy the travelpass you want to buy on sbb.ch.

Hi Tafunge25 thanks for your reply. Let me explain in detail my issue:
Using the old card in SBB network is not a problem. Either this or the one loaded in the SBB App are perfectly fine. My problem is that I want to use the SwissPass as a Ski pass (many ski centers give this options which is very handy, instead of waiting in the que for getting the pickup card). When I try to connect the old SwissPass card and I give the code number (Sxx-xxx-xxx-xxx), it complains that this card does not exist. If I give the respective code from the digital App card it accepts it. That is why I want to get the new card with number that is verified.

I think this issue is not directly related to the card itself but rather to some error within the IT system or your account. To resolve this, I suggest you contact SBB through the contact center (https://www.sbb.ch/en/help-and-contact.html?at_type=SBBMobile), either by calling or by asking the chatbot to connect you to a human agent.
