Hello,

I’m planning to take a ski trip to Zermatt from January 27 to the 30. I’m based in Spain and I’ll be landing at Zurich airport.

After spending some time trying to figure out SBB I’ve given up. Any advice on which ticket should I get? I’m 35.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you to buy a Saver Day Pass at full fare (1/1). That’s how it works:

Download the SBB Mobile App or go to www.sbb.ch/en

Look up a connection from Zurich Flughafen to Zermatt. Choose any connection.

For the journey from Zurich Airport to Zermatt, buy a Saver Day Pass, currently at CHF 52. You should buy it now as the price is raising the closer the travel date and the higher the demand. The Saver Day Pass is valid for any connection from Zurich Airport to Zermatt; it provides enough flexibility in case of a flight delay, you can just hop on the next train after you grabbed your bags from the baggage carousel.

Buy the same for your way back, simply in the opposite direction.

A regular point-to-point ticket full fare (1/1) is CHF 129. The Saver Day Pass is a real bargain!

Hi Roland,

Hope you are well. Your tips about the Zurich - Zermatt train ticket have been very helpful, thank you. Trying to book the Saver Day Pass now for 20 Jan 24. The website allows the selection of dates but gives an error message when I try to progress to purchase. Wondering if it is because we are too early in booking? Do you know how soon tickets can be booked? Heard the prices go up closer to the date and just wanted to get everything booked ahead of time. Many thanks

The advance booking period for Supersaver Tickets is usually 6 months before the desired day of travel.

I recommend you to try another time, maybe you can close first the browser and then try it again.

There was a technical glitch, it should again work. I tested it Monday.

In the contrary, Supersaver tickets for January are, however, available from mid of October only, this is due to the yearly timetable change happening in December.
