I’m going to Switzerland for a few days. I am analysing for how many days I should buy a SwissTravelPassFlex. BUT then a friend told me that I can buy a Tageskarte Gemeinde, and such a ticket costs 45 francs a day, and a child ticket is only 19. Thus tucket canbe bought only in Gemeinde….

Tell me, please, does this Tageskart give the same rights as STPFlex - travel throughout Switzerland in public transport? or there are differencies between them?

What concerns public transport, yes, the STP Flex and the Tageskarte Gemeinde offer the same range of validity per travel day; not so, however, what concerns free admission to museums. The latter is not granting anything in that regard.

The Tageskarte Gemeinde is actually destined to residents and only available to residents living in the respective village (and paying their taxes there) and travelling spontaneously. Some villages do not offer the Tageskarte. The price is not set in stone and can vary from village to village. You would have to know a resident who could organise the Tageskarte for you from the municipalities’ administration office. And, depending on the village, the number of tickets available per day is limited; consequently, tickets are often sold out in advance. It is definitely not a ticket which you can use for multiple travel days. I suggest you look at the Saver Day Pass, or the Swiss Half Fare Card and the Saver Day Pass.

Well, my friend, who lives in one of the villages, offers me to buy Tageskarte for couple of days for me. If I am not a resident, can I also use such a ticket? Is this not vorbidden?… In Gemeinde my friend was told that it it possible.

Well, in this case of course you can use this ticket - yes, you are allowed. My comment was in that regard, as a tourist, you cannot show up at the municipality office and buy the Tageskarte Gemeinde.

Yes, the Children Day Pass works with the TK Gemeinde; but there is even a cheaper option: buy the Junior Card for CHF 30, it is also available to tourists. With it, your child travels for free during 1 year when accompanying you. CHF 30/year vs CHF 19/day the JC is quite a bargain.

I was very pleased with the opportunity to buy a Junior travel card for a child for 30 francs. But it seems I can’t buy it in advance online….???….. Did I understand correctly that I come, for example, to Basel, go to the cashier with our documents - and there they will issue a Junior card for me on the spot?…..

And then in some topics of this community, I read that it must be ordered in advance and wait 14 days by mail.

For tourists travelling in Switzerland for less than 30 days per year, a paper Junior Card is exceptionally be issued.

It is issued and handed over to you right after purchase at the ticket counter; in fact it is a paper ticket valid together with ypur passport.

Don’t get confused by the SwissPass plastic card stuff, this is for residents.
