I bought the 2nd class saver day pass. I want to take the 1st class seats in Bernina Express. How much is the upgrade and how do i obtain it?

You can buy a point-to-point class upgrade. See www.sbb.ch/en.

Enter the start and end destination, choose the Bernina Express connection, click buy and select the option Point-to-point class upgrade.

The cost depends on the journey chosen. For example, Chur to Tirano is CHF 48.

The Day Class Upgrade you can buy provided you are in possession of the Swiss Half Fare Card.

The point-to-point class upgrade is kind of a point-to-point ticket.

You can find it here: Connection | SBB

If you had the SBB Mobile App, it is even easier: you look up the connection, choose a connection and select “point-to-point class upgrade” from the list of offers.

RolandP Hi! In your opinion, do you think it is worth it to buy the saver day pass (2nd class), upgrade point to point first class from tirano to st moritz? and then travel back to tirano on a second class? what is the approximate cost, if i may ask?

Honestly, you would be totally fine to travel in 2nd class. Both classes offer modern coaches, with panoramic windows.

The class upgrade Tirano-St. Moritz, per person, costs CHF 24, or CHF 12 with the half fare card, respectively.
