i want to travel from chiasso to interlaken via domodossola using my swiss pass.

i am aware that i can take the train to locarno and then take the centovalli panoramic train to domodossola, which is a regional train. is the trip from locarno to domodossola covered by the swiss pass?

i then want to catch a “EC” train from domodossola to interlaken via spiez. is this also covered with the swiss pass? i read somewhere that “EC” trains from italy to switzerland are not covered under the swiss pass. if it is not, can you explain what types of trains are covered by the swiss pass from domodossola to spiez? where would the swiss pass be valid from on that route?

i also have 2 other questions regarding domodossola:

- how long will it take (assuming slow walker and luggage) to walk from the platform for the centovallii panoramic train to the platform to catch the EC train to spiez

- how long should i leave in terms of transit time at domodossola from the centovalli train to catchiing a train to spiez? i have read that the centovalli train can be late and i prefer not to miss my onward connection to speiz from domodossola

i will be travelling in the middle of the day in mid week september.

Kindly note, you are referring to the Swiss Travel Pass, not Swiss Pass. It has been renamed in 2014 and the Swiss Pass is now a resident product.

To answer your questions:

Domodossola is in Italy; however, the train line from Domodossola to Brig is owned by SBB (Swiss Federal Railways), this is why the Swiss Travel Pass is valid between Domodossola and Brig.
The Centovalli train (FART) arrives underground at Domodossola train station and provides access to all platforms.
Use www.sbb.ch/en for timetable and trip planning; the transfer times given there are absolutely realistic. In the unlikely event of a delay, you simply take the next train. There are mulitple trains per hour going to Brig and Spiez.
