Interlaken to Milan Central Station

Hi,
May I know what is the best way to travel from Interlaken to Milan? We have a Swiss travel pass, do we need to buy a separate ticket from Lugano to Milan? Where can we buy the ticket? Do we need to buy it in advance or on the same day?

The most convinient route is Interlaken Ost - Spiez - Domodossola - Milan. There is a Eurocity service train from Spiez to Milan.

You can buy the ticket at www.sbb.ch/en or http://trenitalia.com/en.html. Swiss Travel Pass is valid as far as Domodossola. While buying tickets you can choose “GA Generalabonnement” as reduction. By doing so the Swiss stretch will be free of charge.

RolandP Another follow up question regarding purchasing ticket from Interlaken Ost to Milan Central Station. When buying ticket with Swiss Travel Pass, you previously mentioned choosing “GA Generalabonnement” for reduction. I see GA 1. cl, 1 year/GA subscription and GA 2. cl, 1 yr/GA subscription as options. Would I select one of these options with Swiss Travel Pass? Thank you.

If you have the Swiss Travel Pass in 1st class, you can select GA 1st class. If you have bought your Swiss Travel Pass in 2nd class, select the GA 2nd class.
