Hello Jeremyk
Your question has been answered in the past, in the English-speaking SBB Community: Questions and answers - SBB CFF FFS Community
What concerns your question:
Where a train is cancelled or delayed, or a route is closed, you may use the next possible connection. If the delay was caused by you (for example because you arrived too late at the station, or because you went shopping during a transfer and therefore missed the train, etc.) you have to buy a new ticket.

Kind regards,
