Hello!
I am interested in a night train from Amsterdam to Zurich with my dog. He is a swiss breed ( Bernese mountain dog ) and I wish he can see the magnificent hills he is bred to traverse.
As I did read in the help pages, I can book a dog pass with a half-fare ticket. Therefore I choose for my journey 3 adults, 2 full fare ( my wife and I ) and 1 half fare for our dog.
Then I am getting to a page with a lot of choice and I don’t quite understand what is the difference. I am interested in a sleeping/couchette wagon.
I cannot paste a screenshot here, therefore I am listing the options I am presented with:
Seated car:
Couchette car:
- 3 passengers in 1 6 seater compartment - 465 CHF
- 3 passengers in 1 6 seater compartment for private use - 335 CHF
- 3 passengers in 1 4-seater compartment - 497 CHF
Sleeping car:
- 3 passengers in 1 3-seater compartment - 591 CHF
- 3 passengers in 3 Single compartments - 812 CHF
So my questions are:
- Can all of these booked with a dog?
- Why 6-seater compartment for private use is cheapest? I would imagine it would be more expensive than a shared compartment?
- Unless I don’t understand what does private use mean?
I wish there would be just a “dog ticket” option in the online booking, for example as in OBB night train bookings, where they also show you only options that are allowed with a dog. Here I only need to guess…
Would be happy for any help, thanks
