Help with Express (Same Day) Luggage Delivery from Zurich Airport to Grindelwald

Hi! Apologies in advance for several questions… I’ve reviewed the website, but seem to confuse each time and just want to be sure I am understanding what I need to do…

I will be traveling to Switzerland with my husband for our honeymoon next week… we will be flying into the Zurich Airport on 8/24/23 and are scheduled to land at 10:35am. We are looking to have our bags delivered to our hotel in Grindelwald on the same day (8/24/23).

If I’m reading the information on the website correctly, it looks like our flight must land at the Zurich Airport by 9:00am in order to be delivered to our hotel in Grindelwald by 11pm on that same day… is this correct?

Since our flight is not scheduled to land until 10:35am, is there anything we can do to have our luggage delivered for us the same day or would we have to wait until the next day if we don’t want to take it around with us?

Can I do the express door to door delivery service if we will be landing at Zurich Airport and need our bags taken to our hotel in Grindelwald with same day service?

I also saw a note that any order for express delivery must be placed no later than 8pm two days prior to collection – this is what has me concerned… if we can’t order in advance since we are coming in from the US, will we be able to order the express delivery when we land and have our luggage delivered to Grindelwald that same day?

From what I’ve read, it looks like since we will be traveling from the US, we cannot purchase this in advance and will need to find the SBB Luggage Counter in the airport upon arrival and order this service there… is that correct? is there any way to purchase this in advance if we are traveling from the US to Zurich?

We have purchased (2) Swiss Travel Passes that are valid for 8 days, starting on 8/24. They are both second class. Is this adequate to be able to utilize the express luggage delivery service?

Will our luggage be delivered directly to our hotel or will we need to pick it up somewhere else in Grindelwald?

We will be staying at the Glacier Hotel (Endweg 55, 3818 Grindelwald, Switzerland)

Just to confirm - the bags can be transferred with the express (same day) service without us being on the train with them, correct? We plan to stop in Lucerne and Alpnachstad on our way to Grindelwald that day so we do not intend to be traveling with our bags. Just wanted to confirm that is ok.

What is the cost for 4 bags to be transported for us with the express delivery service from the Zurich Airport to our hotel in Grindelwald? - Glacier Hotel (Endweg 55, 3818 Grindelwald, Switzerland)

As it is not picked up from an address in Switzerland, the door-to-door offer cannot be booked. So you have to check in your luggage at the ticket counter in Switzerland to have it delivered to a train station or to an address in Switzerland. For express delivery, based on your information, unfortunately it is not possible to have it delivered on the same day.

Maybe you can find another transport company to ensure the shipment for the arrival day.

I second @FatimaH ’s advice.

It is not an issue to carry your bags on the train, and is done by all Swiss people. Simply travel light. Most trains have a floor-level entry, which allows for easy access with suitcases with wheels.

The IC81 trains are direct from Zurich Airport to Interlaken Ost. There, you can change trains for Grindelwald - all in all, 1 change required. In Interlaken, there is a ramp to change platforms; again, no need to carry your bags.
