Basel to Amsterdam with Nighjet

I want to travel from Basel to Amsterdam next week via the nightjet but I have a few questions.

1) I’m traveling with two children (7 and 1) is it ok to travel on this train with children + 3 suitcases, 1 buggy?

2) I have noticed that there was only a 4 person compartment available, would a 4th ticket need to be purchased as well in order to have a private compartment? If so how? And is there a big difference between 2nd and 1st class?

This should not be a problem as long as you can get in and out the train yourself and there is enough space for your luggage.
The 1 year old child travels free of charge when accompanied by parents if he/she does not need his/her own seat. Thus, you could also book a sleeper Double. Otherwise you have to book the whole 4-person compartment (like an additional adult person including both children and yourself).
