Purchased ticket through Deutsche Bahn with a transfer in Switzerland

I purchased a first class ticket through DB for travel from Offenburg, Germany to Zurich Airport with a change of train in Basel. I have car and seat assignments for the German rail portion but no information for the Swiss rail leg other than the train number, departure time and platform in Basel. Do I just get on a first class car and take any available seat or am I missing seat and car assignments?

If you have a valid 1st class ticket at the normal fare, which is also valid for travel in Switzerland, and you have not reserved a seat for this part of your journey, then the answer is yes: you can simply take an empty seat on the train. For other details like train number, departure time, platform in Basel etc. you could consult our online timetable: www.sbb.ch.

But I would advise you to definitely still check directly with DB, since you got the tickets from DB.

Thank you EllenvS for your response. I did check with DB and they were not particularly helpful; I have included a copy of their response to me in case you have any further comment on this. I do not know whether I purchased my ticket at a ‘normal’ price as I have no experience with purchasing DB and SBB train tickets. I guess my wife and I will find out in June if we are permitted on the Swiss Rail train!
