How the Swiss Travel Pass Flex works

Hello,

I would like to find out how exactly Flex option works. If I buy 4-day STS Flex, do I have to select and activate all 4 days before the journey? Or am I allowed to do this whenever I want, i. e. when I am sure next day weather conditions are good?

The Swiss Travel Pass Flex is valid on 3, 4, 8 or 15 freely selectable days within one month.
