Family Travel pass

Hello, We are family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children <16yrs) travelling from Ireland to visit Lucern, Interlakken, Jungfrau, Mt.Pilatus and return to Zurich. Dates are 12 Jun to 15 Jun. Can someone kindly advise what’s best travel pass (in terms of price and flexibility) to cover these routes/dates by train/bus?

The best option for you would be to buy the Swiss Travel System. Your children from 0 to 16 years travel free of charge with The Family Card for the period of your stay.

The Swiss Travel System is only valid up to Wengen. To be able to visit Jungfraujoch you must buy a return ticket for half the price.

I went online to purchase 4-day “Swiss Travel Pass - Family” by going into Swiss Travel System tickets and choosing the option “Yes, I would like the STS Family Card” during the order under: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests.html

1. However, on next “offer” page when I add 2 times “child-16” (for my kids aged12, 15 years) it adds CHF141 for each of them as well. I thought children under 16 travel free as long as one parent holding STP travels with them? Why is it asking me to pay for all 4 members?

2. This is not an issue when I try same pass on other website as below - is this website also acceptable? https://rail.myswitzerland.com/#/en/product/swissPass

1) We recommend you to buy the Swiss Travel Pass on our website: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-travel-pass.html

- Select the desired Swiss Travel Pass for the Adult
- Then you can add the Date of Validity and on the same site you can choose the Swiss Family Card. There you can add your children (see attached)

2) This is the Website from Swiss Tourism. You can buy it also on this website.

When you print out the Swiss Family Pass - on the top right corner does it give the name of the person traveling and then children on the bottom - of is it supposed to be an actual ticket fro the child traveling?

Thank you for your request.

If the Swiss Family Card is issued as an e-ticket, one e-ticket will be issued per child. This ticket bears the child’s surname, first name and date of birth. The names of the parents are not printed on the ticket.
